Mock draft season has already begun.

We are, like, 7 months away from the NFL Draft. But content is content, and we all need content to survive, no matter how big or small our platform. That’s why CBS Sports posts NFL Mock Drafts in September, and also why we’re writing about another website’s content.

Anyway, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports published his NFL Mock Draft and he has two Colorado Buffaloes going in the first round. Much to my surprise, Mustafa Johnson was projected 8th overall to the Denver Broncos. To lesser surprise, Laviska Shenault Jr. was projected as the 19th pick to the Minnesota Vikings.

On Johnson, Trapasso wrote “The Broncos have to get stronger on the inside of their defensive line. Johnson is a high-level penetrator with a super-quick first step.” This has Johnson as the second defender taken, behind only Chase Young (Ohio State), who is likely to be picked 1st overall.

According to Trapasso, “We all know ... the Vikings need that third receiver behind [Adam] Thielen and [Stefon] Diggs. Shenault is a dream of a West Coast Offense weapon given his yards-after-the-catch ability.” This would make Shenault the fifth receiver taken, after Jerry Jeudy (Alabama), CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma), Jalen Reagor (TCU) and Tee Higgins (Clemson).

Also of note, CBS Sports’s NFL Draft prospect rankings have Shenault 10th overall (2nd best WR), Steven Montez 55th (5th best QB) and Johnson 67th (5th best DE). You would have to imagine Davion Taylor working his way into draft discussions as well.
