On the eve of the season opener, the Colorado Buffaloes have announced that Miami cornerback Nigel Bethel will be transferring to CU.
Bethel, a three-star recruit out of high school, will most likely have to sit out this year. He redshirted in 2018 and will have three years eligibility starting in 2020.
Once Bethel is eligible, he will be depended on for secondary depth. Five defensive backs have left the program since 2018, so there isn’t much depth at the moment. It would have been nice to have him around in 2019, but the Buffs will have to make do for now.
The #cubuffs have filled another open scholarship by adding CB Nigel Bethel, a transfer from Miami (Fla.). A 3-star prospect out of HS, he redshirted with the Hurricanes in 2018 & announced his transfer 2 wks ago. CU has him listed inactive, so I think he has to sit out this year

The Buffs had a few scholarships to throw around. Another scholarship went to Lucas Cooper, a fifth-year senior who was previously a walk-on. Cooper is a special teams playmaker who said it was a “dream come true” to earn a scholarship.
