This is almost certainly the worst Team USA roster in history. But among the stank of Marcus Smart literally being a captain of the national team, there is good news. Derrick White, Colorado Buffaloes icon, has been named to the final roster.
It's official! @Dwhite921 is headed to China with @usabasketball for the FIBA World Cup. Congrats, Derrick!

White was the final addition to the team, one week before the FIBA World Cup starts on August 31. He fills in for Kyle Kuzma, the Lakers forward who was injured in Team USA’s Friday night loss to Australia. That loss snapped a 78-game win streak for the Americans.
The full roster is:
Kemba Walker (C), G, Boston Celtics
Marcus Smart (C), G, Celtics
Donovan Mitchell (C), G, Utah Jazz
Derrick White, G, San Antonio Spurs
Khris Middleton, F, Milwaukee Bucks
Joe Harris, F, Brooklyn Nets
Jaylen Brown, F, Celtics
Jason Tatum, F, Celtics
Harrison Barnes, F, Sacramento Kings
Myles Turner, C, Indiana Pacers
Brook Lopez, C, Bucks
Mason Plumlee, C, Denver Nuggets
As much as I love White (and Jaylen Brown), that is a lot of Boston and one too many Plumlees on the roster. I'll root for White to show out -- especially playing for head coach Gregg Popovich -- but I'm going to root for someone else. Maybe Nikola Jokic's Serbia side, or a Greece squad featuring three Antetokounmpos, or even the Aussies who just beat USA.
