If you have not followed The Tournament (TBT) for the past four summers, Colorado Buffaloes alumni compete in a single-elimination tournament that awards a $2 million grand prize to the winner. Team Colorado, as the Buffs alumni are called, were runners-up a couple years and are competing again starting Friday, July 26.
This most recent update is because Team Colorado has added two recent Buffs, Xavier Johnson and Tory Miller. The squad is on the older side — Chris Copeland and Marcus Hall have been the team’s best players — so it’s nice to see them get some young blood. Johnson is a capable scorer whose sweet lefty jumper should play well at TBT. Miller, meanwhile, adds crucial frontcourt depth to a team that needs more force on the glass.
I have no basis for projecting the rotation, but here’s my best guess for the starters:
G - Marcus Hall
G - Carlon Brown
F- Xavier Silas
F - Richard Roby
F - Chris Copeland
And for the bench:
F - Xavier Johnson
F - Marcus Relphorde
G - Dominique Coleman
G - Dominique Collier
F - Tory Miller
G - Shannon Sharpe
G - Xavier Talton
With head coach Nate Tomlinson at the helm, this should be a pretty good capable of advancing in TBT. They have enough depth, size and shooting, plus guard creators in Brown and Hall, to make a serious run if things come together. Should be fun.
