The upcoming season is a mere two months away, but that doesn’t stop Mel Tucker from adding reinforcements for the 2019 season. The tight end depth chart six months ago consisted of Jared Poplawski and Brady Russell. Now, they have Auburn grad transfer Jalen Harris, converted RB Beau Bisharat, Russell, Poplawski, and the latest addition, Luke Stillwell.

Stillwell is an interesting case. A converted QB, Stillwell enrolled in Kilgore Junior College and switched to tight end. Already blessed with a 6’4 frame, Luke quickly added as much weight as he could and learned the position. After one short year at Kilgore, he added offers from CU, TCU and Texas Tech in the span of a month before choosing the Buffs.

Luke is a true inline tight end. He is still raw for the position, but he can block and catch well for his size. He has four years to play three, so he may end up redshirting in order to learn the position, but he has good size, good instincts, and great athleticism. I would bet on Luke playing on special teams this year with some game snaps thrown in depending on how fast he learns.

Welcome, Luke!
