The Colorado Buffaloes’ season opener on Aug. 30 vs. Colorado State will be nationally televised on ESPN, per an announcement by the Pac-12 conference on Thursday.

The 91st edition of the Rocky Mountain Showdown is scheduled to kickoff at 8:10 pm MT from Denver’s Mile High Stadium. According to CU’s Dave Plati, “It will be the 25th straight year that one of the nation’s most underrated rivalries will be televised on an either a regional or national basis, and for the fifth time on ESPN”

Colorado has won the last four contests against their in-state rivals, and eight of the past eleven going back to 2007. The late August meeting between the Buffs and Rams will be a first-ever meeting between former University of Georgia assistants Mel Tucker and Mike Bobo for their respective teams. It will also be the ninth game in CU history to be played in the month of August, with a 3-2 records in five games vs. CSU.

Colorado holds a commanding 66-22-2 lead in the series going back to 1893.
