WR La’Vontae Shenault signs to the Buffaloes

That’s a familiar last name...

NCAA Football: Arizona State at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Let’s start this article off with a quick PSA: I’m trying my hardest not to saddle this commit with unrealistic expectations because of the name on the back of his jersey. While he may be the brother of Laviska Shenault Jr., he is not Laviska. He is La’Vontae Shenault, the next commitment for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Shenault is from DeSoto High School, the same Dallas, Texas high school home to current Buffs Laviska Shenault and K.D. Nixon. Shenault the younger started on the Eagles his senior year and posted some huge numbers. During the recruiting process, he pulled in offers from Illinois, Kansas State, Arizona State, Purdue, Oklahoma State, TCU, West Virginia, and Texas Tech, who previously held his commitment. He’s visited the Buffs multiple times, officially and unofficially, over the past few years, and there’s obviously a built-in relationship with coach Darrin Chiaverini.

La’Vontae is a different player than the planet destroying Viska. He has good size, at 6’1 and 190 pounds, and he has some nice long speed and agility. His tape shows long strides and some nice small moves in space. He’s always moving forward with the ball and has no false steps. He is efficient from the boundary and the slot.

Welcome, La’Vontae!
