McKinley Wright named to Naismith Player of the Year watch list

Wright is one of 50 players on the watch list

The hype surrounding the Colorado Buffaloes is growing. On Monday morning, McKinley Wright was named to the 50-player preseason watch list for the Naismith National Player of the Year.

Wright is among the best guard in all of college basketball. The junior was recently named to the Bob Cousy Award watch list for best guard in the sport. He’s my personal prediction to win Pac-12 Player of the Year, which is probably more realistic considering how many great guards are playing this season.

Wright is definitely on the outside looking in, but there is a path for him to win the basketball version of the Heisman. He would have to have a monumental season personally, beat Kansas in Lawrence, lead the Buffs to the Pac-12 title, and have the narrative of being the central star of a top-10 team. It’s very unlikely, but it’s not impossible.
