California OL joins 2019 Colorado recruiting class

BRING US ALL THE SIZE

NCAA Football: Oregon State at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Buffaloes and Mel Tucker have added ten commitments since he’s been hired. Six of those commits have been linemen. The sixth and latest linemen is Nikko Pohahau, who checks a lot of boxes. California player? Check. Large man? Check. Most importantly, he’s good!

Pohahau is from St. Francis High School in Mountain View, California, which is near the Bay Area. At 6’5 and now closer to 275, he is a long, lean body that can put on many more pounds. He was under-recruited throughout his junior and senior year, but he recently started to blow up in offers. After Colorado and Fresno State offered, many of the other Pac-12 programs started to join in. He picked the Buffs over offers from Fresno State, Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona State, and Utah.

For the life of me, I don’t know why it took so long fro him to get noticed. He’s in a well-populated area of California, he played all four years in high school, and he’s also pretty good. His played both right and left tackle in high school. He moves his feet very well and moves to the second level with ease. He is obviously more comfortable going forward as a blocker, given how much he dominated people by blocking angry and pushing forward.

Welcome, Nikko!
