Vegas glance. A simple playcall with a simple objective. Laviska Shenault is to go deep down the sideline and Steven Montez’s job is to get the talented wide receiver the ball. “I told Coach (Kurt) Roper to tell Steven if they go closed middle, look that free safety off and throw that ball for a touchdown,” said co-offensive coordinator Darrin Chiaverini, who called the play from the press box. “That safety was doubling Laviska and Steven brought his eyes to the boundary and moved the safety just enough. It was a great throw and a great catch. That’s Steven Montez and Laviska Shenault.”
