Carl Jones Becomes 6th DB Commit for the Buffs

ShaDon Brown, you’re a monster

NCAA Football: Southern California at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Take a bow, ShaDon Brown. Assuming that this is the final piece to the defensive back class for 2019 (as the 6th commitment, they should be about done), he and Ashley Ambrose have worked miracles in Southern California. Six defensive backs, all from SoCal, all with multiple P5 offers, and all with crazy athleticism. The finishing touch is Carl Jones.

Jones, who played for Golden Valley High School through his junior year, is a fantastic athlete who did everything for his high school. At 6’1 and about 200 pounds, he played safety, quarterback, wide receiver, and anywhere else he was needed. For his senior year, he is transferring to Bakersfield High School, a higher-profile program where he can focus on what he will be playing in college (DB/S). Jones picked CU over offers from Oregon State, Nevada, and UNLV, among others, but he is receiving more and more interest from other Pac-12 teams.

Watching his film, it’s easy to see how he fits in with the Buffs. He is just such a natural athlete. Jones plays downfield and hits HARD. Despite being kinda lanky and thin, Jones walls a few running backs in his tape and plays aggressive in his run support. As a centerfielder, he reacts quickly and has fluid hips to stay with receivers. He is another versatile, athletic piece for ShaDon to play with.

Welcome, Carl!
