The Buffaloes had two scholarships open up when Dillon Middlemiss decided to focus on schoolwork and Grant Polley is sitting out this year for personal reasons. While the Buffs are likely to use one of those on a walk-on who has earned his free lunch, it looks like the other scholarship is going to a cornerback from College of San Mateo in California, Mekhi Blackmon.
Thank You ALL For Standing By My Family & I Throughout This Entire Process.... There Isn’t A Doubt Colorado Is The Place For Me......(this is not a time for celebration, just watch me work.) #CUSoon #ThankTheLord #APE pic.twitter.com/lc2358w500

Mekhi Blackmon was a full qualifier out of high school, like many of Colorado’s junior college adds. Blackmon is 6’ and about 180 pounds, and he will have four years to play three. As of now, Colorado is his only offer, but 247 Sports reports some heavy interest from Washington State and San Diego State. The light recruitment shouldn’t be too surprising, given how late in the process the 2018 class is and how junior colleges can be overlooked anyway. Any DB that gets an offer from ShaDon Brown and Coach MacIntyre is ok with me.
Blackmon’s film is plenty promising. He’s big, extremely physical, and has good recovery speed. Like most MacIntyre cover corners, he excels in press coverage and loves to play the ball in the air. Mekhi will likely redshirt this season, given how late he’s arriving to the class and how slight he is. In the future, he can be a great nickel back and special teams stud.
Welcome, Mekhi!
