Colorado Buffaloes alumni need your help to get back in The Basketball Tournament (TBT). TBT is a 72-team single-elimination tournament that plays for a $2 million grand prize.
The Buffs alumni, named Team Colorado, are looking to compete in their fourth straight TBT. In order to get back, they need enough votes to finish in the top-9 of the West region. They’re currently 10th in the West, so please vote. Voting ends June 1.
Team Colorado has been one of the most consistent TBT teams since the tournament’s inception in 2014. The Buffs alumni made it to the second round in 2015, lost in the championship in 2016, then lost in the Round of 16 in 2017. Team Colorado was exceptionally close to the grand prize in 2016 and had a 20-point in the championship before falling apart in the second half. They were supposed to make a run at the grand prize again last summer but were upset.
The leader of Team Colorado the past few summers has been by Chris Copeland, former NBA player, and Marcus Hall, an electric scoring guard who played at CU from 2003 to 2008. They will also be led by Richard Roby, CU’s co-all-time leading scorer, and Austin Dufault, essential piece of the 2012 Pac-12 Championship squad.
Here’s the full squad:
Chris Copeland, Forward
Austin Dufault, Forward
Marcus Hall, Guard
Michael Morandais, Guard
Marcus Relphorde, Forward
Richard Roby, Forward
Shannon Sharpe, Guard
Xavier Talton, Guard
Calvin Williams, Forward
James Wright, Guard
Beau Gamble, GM
Trent Beckley, GM
Dwight Thorne II, Coach
Everyone on the squad is returning from last year. Unfortunately, Josh Scott and Xavier Silas (now in the NBA!) aren’t returning.
If you want to see this team play together again and you want them to play again for the grand prize, please vote.
