Colorado Buffaloes linebacker Jacob Callier will miss the rest of the 2018 season, per an announcement before the Arizona State game on Saturday.
Callier, who’s scheduled to have shoulder surgery, becomes the first Buffs to fall under the newly-established four game redshirt rule. The sophomore linebacker played in all four games this season with a total of five tackles and a sack. Callier ended up with seven tackles and a sack, as well as a team-leading 11 QB hurries, and eight forced fumbles in 2017.
In Callier’s stead, the Buffs started Carson Wells and Alex Tchangam. Both with need to step up in order to have a similar presence as their fallen teammate.
Per the same press release, cornerback/safety Mekhi Blackmon will also redshirt the 2018 season without an injury. The College of San Mateo transfer joined the Buffs for fall camp as a true sophomore.
