While most of us have been spending Saturday fretting over the football team’s game against USC, the Colorado Buffaloes soccer team was dominating Oregon. With their 4-1 win, the Buffs have improved to 12-0-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the Pac-12.
The 16th-ranked Buffs have cemented themselves as one of the best teams in the nation. Last time we checked in this team, they had just destroyed Oregon State 6-0. Since then, they tied both games against the Arizona schools (both away matches), beat #7 Washington State, 3-1, outlasted Washington 2-1 in overtime, and now just beaten up the Ducks.
Colorado’s win over Wazzu was critical for the team. The concern for the Buffs was that, just like the football team, they had gone undefeated but against lackluster opponent. But the Cougars are an elite team and CU beat them down in Boulder. That win proved not only that they can beat anyone, but they’re the team that should be feared.
Led by the prolific #10 Jorian Baucom, the Buffs will soon face their toughest test yet. They travel this coming week to the Bay to take on California and #1 Stanford. No team should be expected to win at Stanford, but the Buffs have a team that can pull off a tie or even a shocking upset.
After Stanford, the Buffs will back at home to host #2 USC and #10 UCLA. Those games may be the biggest in the program’s history, so if you’re not there to support this amazing team, you’d better have a good excuse.
