Colorado picked to finish 7th in Pac-12

The Buffs are being overlooked some.

The Colorado Buffaloes were picked to finish 7th place in the Pac-12, according to the conference’s preseason poll that was announced today.

The Buffs are right around where they want to be. It’s a high enough rating for them to feel respected as a dark horse contender, but low enough for them to carry a chip on their shoulders. This isn’t exactly the 2011-12 championship team being picked to finish 11th.

The Buffs will be lead by a core of superb sophomores that are primed to take a collective leap. It wouldn’t be the least surprising to see the Buffs jump past Arizona State, USC and Arizona, each of whom will be relying on unproven (but very talented) players to fill in for established difference-makers. Oregon, UCLA and Washington should be in a tier above the rest, but this is a fickle game and each visits Boulder this year.

This should be a fun season.
