Sports Illustrated should rewrite 'Colorado State vs. Colorado in Denver' College Football Road Trip

+

The Aug. 14 issue of Sports Illustrated featured a 2017 college football preseason top 25, along with a suggested road trip to guide fans. One of the stops on the cross-country route was in Denver, Colo for the Rocky Mountain Showdown. Except it didn't give a good description of the match-up, or the Mile High City. Here's a suggested redo with more accuracy. The Buffs are coming off one of the best turnaround season's in college football history. Despite an off-the-field issue with former coach Joe Tumpkin, the Buffs are focused on football going into the 2017 season. The Rocky Mountain Showdown has been played in Denver going back to 1998, but should be moved back to campus for a more enhanced atmosphere. Colorado has won the past two years, including a 44-7 win in 2016, the largest margin of victory for either team in the series going back to 1956. Grab a beer at one of the many craft breweries in downtown Denver- before the game as most close before Midnight. Falling Rock Tap House is an option with a long walk or Lyft after the game, despite normal Friday night LoDo traffic congestion. Get on the road by 9 a.m. Sunday. You're going for a seven-hour run of nothing to Manhattan, Kans, where Bill Snyder is still coaching. Be careful and watch out for deer along interstate 70. There's nothing good about explaining that situation to a rental car company. Less than two weeks until the start of the college football season. #NeverStopRising
