Coach Chev just can’t help himself, can he? The one area where CU’s depth and talent is supreme is the wideout spot, largely because of Chev. The senior class is insane, but so is the incoming freshman class. It should/is the lowest priority on the recruiting board. But Chiaverini just knows how to recruit. And he reeled in another big fish for the Buffs.
Daniel Arias, out of Washington, is the latest commit for the Buffs. He is number 11 in the class and the first from the Pacific Northwest. He committed to the Buffs over 19 other offers, from programs like Boise State, Michigan State, Oregon State, and Utah, with UCLA sniffing around. He may be the one and only WR recruit that CU takes this cycle, discounting junior Texas Tech transfer Tony Brown.
Arias is definitely huge. But it’s not like he’s just a possession receiver. He averaged 21.5 yards per catch his junior year, and he can move. He’s surprisingly nimble for a guy his size and his breakaway speed is top-notch, too. His long strides help him separate quickly and his wide catch radius means that most cornerbacks are pretty helpless. he is basically an anthromorphic condor.
