Senior captains Phillip Lindsay (aka Lindsay Phillips) and Derek McCartney have been chosen to join head coach Mike MacIntyre in representing Colorado at the Pac-12 Football media days in Hollywood next month.
Lindsay is coming off a junior season in which he rushed for 1,252 yards and led the Pac-12 with 16 rushing touchdowns, the most by a Buff since Chris Brown had 18 in 2002. The senior from Aurora, Colorado also hauled in 53 passes for 493 yards before being named to the Second Team All-Pac-12 for 2016. Lindsay is projected to be one of the top running backs in the Pac-12 and all of college football in 2017.
Expect McCartney to field a lot of questions from reporters about his health. The grandson of legendary CU coach Bill McCartney started the first three games at defensive end/outside linebacker last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury against Michigan.
McCartney was part of a Buffs defense that ranked 19th in the nation in total defense last season. However, not including McCartney, the Buffs return only three starters on the defensive side of the ball in 2017. McCartney has started 25 games and accrued 9 ½ sacks in his career at CU.
