Shortly after Chidobe Awuzie was selected by the Dallas Cowboys 60th overall in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, another member of Colorado’s #MoneyGang heard his name called. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is Bay Area bound after being selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the second pick of the third round (66th overall).

Witherspoon played in 14 games (starting 12) his final season in Boulder amassing 23 tackles, 19 pass break-ups and a crucial interception in the final minute to preserve a 41-38 win over Oregon at Autzen Stadium.

Prior to Witherspoon, the last Buff to be drafted by the 49ers was defensive end Daryl Price, taken in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft. Colorado has never had two cornerbacks selected within the first three rounds. Congrats, Ahkello and Chidobe!
