Buffs Football!
Frei: Rick George moves CU athletics forward but has work to do - The Denver Post
Rick George also was familiar to many of these men and women when he served as the football program's recruiting coordinator and then assistant athletic director for football operations in the early 1990s.
Growing The Colorado Buffaloes Athletic Program - College AD
The Colorado Buffaloes are experiencing quite a good financial year. Athletic improvements are in motion, funds are coming in, and many are fired up about the foreseeable future. Some of the changes occurring presently within athletics might be due to a change in leadership, as the athletics department hired their current Athletics Director, Rick George, not too long ago.
Ranking every FBS QB situation: Nos. 61-70 - NFL.com - This whole list is pretty interesting. Like the assessment of Sefo. Colorado State is No. 19. Whoa.
61. Colorado Starter/backup: Sefo Liufau/Jordan Gehrke Buzz: Liufau started seven games last season, becoming the first true freshman quarterback to start a game for the Buffs since 2008, and showed signs that he can be a high-level college quarterback. He has some mechanical issues to fix and he needs to add strength (he's 6-4 and 225, so that shouldn't be that difficult), but he has a nice upside -- and it has been a while since you could say that about a Buffs quarterback. He also is the only quarterback on the roster who has taken a college snap.
Pac-12 Ultimate Road Trip: Week 1 - Pac-12 Blog - ESPN
So why not spend the first week checking out a rivalry game? The gauntlet was thrown down last year by then-new Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre when his Buffs won 41-27, avenging a 22-17 loss from the year before when Jim McElwain made his debut with the Rams.
A lot of people are curious to see what strides the Buffs are going to make in Year 2 of the MacIntyre era -- the Pac-12 blog included -- and we’ll get a look at Sefo Liufau, who comes in as the unquestioned starter and with some experience under his belt.
No. 11 – Hawai’i " CU At the Game - A CU Football blog by Stuart Whitehair
Hawai’i has gone 4-22 under Chow in his two seasons as the coach of the Warriors. After a 3-9 campaign in 2012, the wheels fell off last fall. It took a season-ending defeat of Army to pick up the season’s first win, and avoid only the second winless season at Hawai’i in the modern era.
It’s safe to say that the Hawai’i team which will be playing at Folsom Field on September is not of the same caliber as the team which defeated Colorado in the 2011 season opener.
Pac-12 special teams review: Conference's best place kickers - ESPN
Will Oliver, Colorado: Made 17 of 24 field goals with a long of 53. Like Phillips, he was perfect on PATs and was good on kickoffs.
Pac-12 South, Non Conference Schedule Rankings - UW Dawg Pound
6. Colorado - Average Ranking: 99/99 Colorado boasts the easiest schedule in the South, playing two teams coming off 1-win campaigns from the previous year. They will play Colorado State (64), Massachusetts (120) and Hawaii (114). Their game against Colorado State should be a nail-biter, but if they lose either of the other two games, the McIntire could be roasting ...
12. Colorado (DE Juda Parker, DT Josh Tupou, DT Justin Solis, DE Samson Kafovalu, DT Tyler Henington, DE Jimmie Gilbert) This might be the unit where Mike MacIntyre needs to do the most work. There is experience here, but it is poorly-performing experience that needs to step up if the Buffaloes are going to put together a better defense in 2014.
Pac-12 players on Butkus watch list - Pac-12 Blog - ESPN - Pretty shocked that Gillam wasn't included.
Baltimore Ravens' Jimmy Smith cited, released by police - Buffzone - Dammit, Jimmy.
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith became the fifth player on the team to be arrested during the offseason after he received a criminal citation Saturday night for failing to follow an officer's orders. The incident occurred after Baltimore County police were called to a Towson restaurant because a woman had reportedly passed out in the bathroom.
Buffs Basketball!
Andre Roberson: Oklahoma City Thunder Need Him To Become Role Player
Andre Roberson may very well become a household name after a relatively quiet and unproductive rookie season for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2013-14. He played in a total of 40 games, starting 16 of them and had numerous assignments to the NBA D-league. While he may not be very well known at this current juncture in his career, one year of experience may propel this no-name to recognition in 2014-15.
Detroit Pistons notes: With roster nearing completion, Stan Van Gundy pleased | MLive.com
Dinwiddie the X-factor: The Pistons have five point guards, including injured second-round draft pick Spencer Dinwiddie. The sheer number of point guards indicates that Detroit will be patient with the University of Colorado product.
