Last week: 0-4!! (First time that's ever happened. I missed the last two weeks because of filming and shame)
Season record: 2-6
All lines according to Vegas Insider as of 10:00 a.m., on 9/27
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (-2.5) at Virginia Cavaliers
It's a shame that the La Tech - Texas A&M game had to be cancelled, because that would have been a great opening night game. Since then, the Bulldogs have gone 3-0 with a blow out road win over Illinois. While the defense is still a work in progress, the offense can score on anyone and will send Virginia to 2-3. The money is about even, but we're going with the road favs.
The pick - Lousiana Tech -2.5
Cincinnati Bearcats (+6.5) at Virginia Tech Hokies (Landover, MD)
I've seen a few national writers pick the Bearcats to win outright so I may not be stepping out on a ledge here, but I think Cincinnati wins this one outright. While the Hokies have gotten back on track with a 37-0 win over a hapless Bowling Green team, their issues that were exposed against Pittsburgh are still very much present. Cincy gives them their second Big East loss of the year.
The pick - Cincinnati +6.5
Mississippi Rebels (+30) at Alabama Crimson Tide
This game is going to be a blowout, no doubt about that. But the pick is based on the Rebels having just enough offense to cover with the points. Ole Miss put up 31 against a good Texas defense and I expect this game to be somewhere close to a 42-17 score. All the money is obviously on the ROLL TIDE but the line has come down a full point and a half.
The pick - Ole Miss +30
Toldeo Rockets at Western Michigan Broncos (+1)
We bet against the Rockets in my last post and we're going to try, try again this week. The Broncos are coming off of a big win over UCONN and finally seem to be putting things together after road losses to Illinois and Minnesota. A ridiculous 93% of the money is riding on the away team and the line has moved a full four points to reflect it. We're going to roll with the home dog here.
The pick - Western Michigan +1
