Last week: 3-1
Season record: 5-7
All lines according to Vegas Insider as of 10:00 a.m., on 10/4
Oklahoma Sooners (-5.5) at Texas Tech Red Raiders
This pick may be as much for my own personal sanity as it doesn't have any actual basis in the numbers. The line has inched up as high as six and as low as four and a half and, as you would imagine, most of the money is on the Sooners. Oklahoma gets back on track this week before meeting Texas in Dallas and gets their first win in Lubbock in something like 8 years. If they don't, expect me to be extremely pissed off next week.
The pick - Oklahoma -5.5
Michigan St. Spartans at Indiana Hoosiers (+15.5)
I expect this game be a 14-point win for the Spartans, who have continued to struggle on the offensive side of the ball. La'Veon Bell should find the rushing yards much easier to come by against a weak Hoosier defense, but the Indiana passing attack will be able to put up enough points at home to keep this one close early. Over 90% of the money is with the Spartans, but the line actually dropped a half point to 15.5.
The pick - Indiana +15.5
Miami Hurricanes at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-13)
Miami has gotten back on track after getting blown out on the road at Kansas State, but will not match-up well with a Notre Dame defense that has been fantastic at forcing turnovers. The young Hurricanes team is improving and would challenge the Irish at home, but the Irish will take this game to remain undefeated.
The pick - Notre Dame -13
Nebraska Cornhuskers (+3.5) at Ohio St. Buckeyes
This Ohio State team, even with Urban Meyer, has been winning games like the old Jim Tressel, Craig Krenzel teams of old, scraping by with close win after close win. The majority of the money remains on the Buckeyes, but the spread has fallen from five. The Buckeyes may yet win another one, but it won't be by more than the 3.5 the Huskers are getting.
The pick - Nebraska +3.5
