We knew this one would be rough and it didn't disappoint. The Colorado Buffaloes were blown out, as expected, in Los Angeles as the Trojans rolled, 50-6. Matt Barkley broke the record for most career touchdown passes as he dropped an effortless six-spot on the Buffs while rolling up 298 yards on 19-for-20 passing. The Colorado secondary had no answer for the talented Trojan receivers while Robert Woods grabbing four touchdowns and he and Marqise Lee each eclipsing 100 yards.
The Buffaloes had their best called offensive game of the entire season; by a long shot. But numerous long, successful drives were undone thanks to awful, awful turnovers. Colorado turned the ball over a whopping six times, three picks, three fumbles. Many of those came in the Trojan red zone.
As hard as it is to say, the Buffs did a lot of things right today. There were flashes from the young guys, Christian Powell, Gerald Thomas, Vincent Hobbs, that showed that they may be starting to turn the corner. But there is no way that this Colorado team was going to lose the turnover battle and win this game. Six turnovers later that turned out to be true.
We get to go through this whole ordeal all over again next week at Oregon before the schedule let's up ever so slightly (and I do mean slightly). Buckle up and hold on folks, because we aren't there yet.
