Last week: 3-1
Season record: 11-9
All lines according to Vegas Insider as of 10:00 a.m., on 10/18
Nebraska Cornhuskers at Northwestern Wildcats (+6.5)
The Wildcats gave the Cornhuskers fits in Lincoln last season in a 28-25 Northwestern win. Since then one team has gotten better (Northwestern) and the other worse (Nebraska) and this game is in Evanston (not the world's greatest home field advantage, but at least it isn't in Lincoln). Just over half of the money is on the Cornhuskers and the line has moved a full 2.5 points in favor of Nebraska but we're just going to have to call this one a gut feeling. Wildcats.
The pick - Northwestern +6.5
San Jose St. Spartans at Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners (+11)
This one is a pure numbers play. 90% of the money on the Spartans (who bets this game?) and a line drop from 13.5 to 11 the other way. The Roadrunners finally suffered their first lost to Rice (in only their second D-I game this year) but will bounce back at home and cover the spread (maybe win?) against a Spartans team coming off of a loss to Utah State.
The pick - UTSA +11
North Carolina Tar Heels (+10.5) at Duke Blue Devils
A lot of people are still on the Duke feel-good train after the Blue Devils fell apart against Virginia Tech with around 90% of the money here falling their way. The line hasn't budged however, largely due to the impressive couple of weeks that North Carolina has turned in. I'd recommend buying this one to 10.
The pick - Tar Heels +10.5
Virginia Tech Hokies (+8.5) at Clemson Tigers
It seems that the Virginia Tech Hokies have some believers in Las Vegas coming off of their comeback domination of the Blue Devils last weekend. This line opened at 9 and has dropped as low as 7.5 at some books with over 80% of the public money on the Tigers. I don't know if I'd call for a road win for the Hokies, but we'll certainly take those 8.5 points.
The pick - Hokies +8.5
