Buffaloes LB Jon Major Named Pac-12 Defensive Player Of The Week

Colorado junior linebacker Jon Major has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of Week in the final regular season announcement of the 2011 season. Major lead the Buffs defense in their best effort of the year as they beat the Utes 17-10 and held Utah to only 274 yards. Jon had nine total tackles, two for a loss.

Major, a junior from Parker, Colo., had nine tackles, including two tackles for loss totaling nine yards in the 17-14 win at Utah. He also had a sack in the fourth quarter for seven yards. Major and the Buffalo defense limited Utah to just 39 yards and one first down in the half. Utah's 274 yards were the second lowest allowed by Colorado this season behind 243 by Colorado State.

USC quarterback Matt Barkley of USC and kicker Giorgio Tavecchio of California have been named the offensive and special teams Players of the Week. Tyler Hansen also received a nomination on the offensive side of the ball. Another great honor for this Colorado football team as they head into the off-season.
