Wednesday Buff Bites - Scrimmage is Tomorrow!

New, comments

And you should go.  No, seriously; you should go.  It'll be your last chance to see the Buffs until we play CSU.  24 days...

Colorado_mediumDavid's 8-10 (morning) practice notes - The Ralphie Report - If the last few days have been any indication, David's insights to yesterday's Buffs practices will show up in newspapers tomorrow.  Save yourself the trouble and read it here first.

Colorado_mediumCU's Kiesau reflects to move forward - Buffzone - A nice interview with Eric Kiesau from the Camera.  Apparently he looked in the mirror for ten days straight during the offseason. [mild exaggeration added]

What I did in the offseason is I looked at myself in the mirror. I self evaluated myself and watched a ton of film of a lot of teams, and really looked at myself in the mirror and said, 'What is the best way with the guys we have right now, what is the best thing to make us win games?' If that is run the ball 50 times a game, I'm going to do it. If that is throw the ball 50 times a game, I'm going to do it. I don't care what the magic is. I'm serious. We've just got to score points and win games, and whatever that philosophy is, that is what we're going to do. I know it's a generic answer, but you can say you're a triple-option team, but if it doesn't work, who cares? Whatever our magic is that week, that's what we're going to do."

Colorado_mediumBrooks: New WR Patterson Focused On Catching Up - Fast - -

Travon Patterson underwent his first full practice Tuesday morning with the Buffaloes, offering glimpses of the stretch-the-field possibilities CU recently has lacked at receiver.

"That's huge," coach Dan Hawkins said of the speed the Buffs now boast at receiver... "I mean, it helps your run game, it helps everybody," Hawkins continued. "When (defenses) know you can't run by 'em, they're just going to squat on everything and dare you to run by 'em."

Colorado_mediumThursday's CU scrimmage to be 'situational' - Buffzone

"It will be a lot like the first scrimmage we had in the spring," Hawkins said. "We'll try to get a lot of situational work done."

As Jon posted in the comments of David's practice report, there won't be any special parking set aside for the scrimmage.  The Athletic Dept. is encouraging people to park off campus and let their excitement for the season float them into the stadium.

The Georgia Game is in Prime-Time, The Backfield is Speedy's, and more...after the jump.

Colorado_mediumPearson Places Fourth At Thorpe Cup - - So apparently CU churns out World-Class runners like it's no big deal, and then has them volunteer coach our Track & Field team.

University of Colorado volunteer assistant track and field coach Emily Pearson placed fourth at the Thorpe Cup, an annual combined events dual meet between the U.S. and Germany.

Colorado_mediumWoelk: This season, no question about Buffs` No. 1 back - Buffzone

Rodney Stewart doesn`t like to talk about it, but his teammates have no such qualms. The Colorado backfield is Stewart`s this year.

Colorado_mediumGame Time For Georgia Shifts To Early Evening -

The game time for the CU-Georgia game on October 2 has been changed to a 5 p.m. MDT start, athletic director Mike Bohn announced Tuesday...The kickoff adjustment allows the Colorado-Georgia game to be televised in the later prime time window ...

Colorado_mediumPatterson adds to depth to CU Buffs' receiving corps - Buffzone

Travon Patterson has been impressed with his new teammates in the Colorado football program while standing and watching much of the first week of practice.

"I got to get back into shape," Patterson said. "Once I get into shape I'll be able to catch up. Little things -- technique wise become more familiar with the plays. I got it a little bit, but as I get more familiar with the offense and get my technique back, I'll be all right."

Go Buffs.
