We have rankings, rumors, a few words from the Hawk-Man, and lots of links.

Colorado_mediumCU Buffs coach Dan Hawkins on pivotal season: "Time to cinch it up" - Boulder Daily Camera - Do we have this year's Hawk-quote? Maybe.

The coach's mantra with his team throughout the off-season has been encouraging players and assistant coaches to work each day on improving by three plays a game this year. Hawkins believes his team was just a handful of plays away from winning in most of its losses last year.

Colorado_mediumThe Big 12's top 10 receivers -  ESPN - Scotty makes # 7

He ranked sixth in the Big 12 in receiving yards and receptions, catching 76 balls for 893 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers are second-best among returning Big 12 receivers...

Colorado_mediumThe Big 12's top 10 running backs -  ESPN - ...and Rodney makes # 8

Stewart rushed for 804 yards -- fifth-most in the Big 12... ...after receiving 198 carries, also the fifth-most in the conference.

I know these numbers don't scale all the way up, but I'm excited to see Speedy get more carries.

Colorado_mediumCU News Digest - Boulder Daily Camera - Three short blurbs from the Camera, but this is the one of note:

Hawk on Kiesau`s deal Hawkins called the school`s decision to give offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau one of its six multi-year contracts "awesome."

Good to know that there are several multi-year contracts for deserving coordinators.

Colorado_mediumThe Buffzone Blog - QB uncertainty is to blame - Kyle Ringo - Ringo thinks a CU QB could still fit into the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award:

Whomever wins the starting job for the Buffs could play their way on to the list of semifinalists, which will be announced in late October.
