The Colorado Buffaloes have received a commitment from QB Nick Sherry. Per Brandon Huffman at scout.com, the 6'5" 210 pound signal caller chose the Buffs over offers from San Diego State and Sacramento State. He was also going to get offers from Arizona and Washington if neither of those schools failed to sign QB Brett Hundley, a top rated passer out of Arizona.
Rivals has not yet ranked Sherry but ESPN has him ranked as the 75th ranked quarterback in the 2011 class. A short blurb from ESPN (also has a video on the site) says Sherry is a good looking prospect:
Sherry is a big, good looking pocket passer with dual-threat capabilities as an overall athlete. Has terrific height and solid frame structure. Plays in the one-back offense, but works primarily from under center and while he is not generally used as a designated runner
Scout.com has his junior stats as 161-for-288 for 2,449 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Sherry wanted to make a college decision before his senior year of high school started:
Sherry, a 6-foot-5, 212-pounder, hopes to make his college decision within the next two weeks. And he could be making a choice among other schools besides Colorado and SDSU. Before offering him a scholarship, Sherry said both Washington and Arizona are waiting for Chandler (Ariz.) High quarterback Brett Hundley to make his college decision. Hundley, one of the nation's top QB prospects, has narrowed his choices to Washington, Arizona, UCLA, Oregon and Texas A&M.
"I'd like to get this recruiting stuff done and taken care of so I can just focus on (Casa Grande's) games," Sherry said.
Nick attended the Colorado Buffaloes' summer camps where he earned the attention & an offer from the coaches. This is Colorado's second commitment of the 2011 cycle along with DL/OL Shaun Simon.
