Lots of links and news from Media Day this week, but not a lot of interesting stuff. Basically the same stories over and over again. Nonetheless, here are some links.
Hawkins returns to his coaching roots - Big 12 - ESPN -Coach Hawk is excited to be coaching more. I like the move for this season.
"Every head coach will tell you that as you go along in this profession, sometimes you wake up and you're not doing as much coaching as I want to," Hawkins said. "In terms of the position, I really like those guys a lot."
Buffs' Dan Hawkins on 10-win season: 'I didn't guarantee anything' : Top Stories : Boulder Daily Camera - Think this will stop the media from harping on the 10 wins thing every time they talk about the Buffs? Yea, neither do I.
"I'm never going to sell our guys short. I'm a big believer in your expectations and your vision, and what your standard is. It's not about the wins. I didn't guarantee anything. I didn't promise anything. I didn't threaten anything. "That was never part of it."
Five Big 12 tight ends on Mackey watch list - Big 12 - ESPN - Riar Geer makes the preseason Mackey watch list.
No timetable set on settling Colorado's QB battle - Big 12 - ESPN - Hawkins isn't ready to socialize a time line for the Buffs QB competition.
"We'll see how it plays out," Dan Hawkins said. "Obviously, we want to get something done before we get into the final stages of our prep for Colorado State, but it will play out like it plays out. It might be early, might be late. We'll just see."
Tale of the Tape: Sizing up the Big 12 North contenders - Dr. Saturday - NCAA Football - Rivals.com - Matt Hinton takes a look at the contenders in the North... and includes Mizzou instead of our Buffaloes. I don't buy it.
HuskerExtra.com - Lincoln, Nebraska - Football - Steve Sipple thinks that the new Cowboy Stadium is too much. Yea, well Arrowhead is too little and way too damn cold. Does anyone believe that they charge $90 for a pizza? I don't.
Tuesday’s tour took our group into a suite that can be leased for $800,000 a year — which doesn’t include the price of game or event tickets but does offer a large pizza for $90 (no toppings), 12-packs of domestic beer for $66 apiece and a four-pack of Red Bull for $22, among other ridiculously priced items.
CSU football team lands third 2010 commit | coloradoan.com | The Coloradoan, - Rashawde Meyers didn't want to be distracted this fall as he and his teammates seek to repeat as state champions. So the 6-foot-3, 215-pound defensive end from Cocoa, Fla., decided to play college football at CSU, even though he's never been to Fort Collins. Meyers said Monday that he'll make an official visit to Colorado State University this fall, but regular conversations with CSU assistant coach Pat Meyer and online photos and video of the Rams' new indoor practice facility and academic training center convinced him to make a verbal commitment late last week.
