Welcome to the Ralphie Report as the Colorado Buffaloes get ready to take on the Coppin State Eagles in the second game of the season. We welcome you to weigh in with your live game analysis, critiques, observations and predictions.
WHAT'S NEW WITH COPPIN STATE: The Eagles are 2-0 on the young season after winning their own tournament defeating Lincoln (Pa.), 76-69 and West Virginia Tech, 63-52. CSU finished 13-19 last year and recorded a tied for 3rd finish in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a 9-7 mark. Coppin State returns seven letterwinners from a year ago, however according to the CSU Media Relations Office, returning 6-4 sophomore and MEAC All-Freshman team selection Michael Harper (9.3 ppg., 2.8 rpg.) and 6-5 forward Mike Buckley (7.0 ppg. 2.5 rpg.) will not play.
AGAINST THE EAGLES: CU is 2-0 all-time against the Eagles defeating them once in Boulder (Jan. 2, 2001, 91-63) and the other was last year at the Rainbow Classic, 80-63 on Dec. 28. Cory Higgins scored a game-high 21 points with 10 rebounds. Higgins was also 12-of-12 from the free throw line. The Buffs shot 55.3 percent for the game. Casey Crawford chipped-in with 12 points off the bench, while Dwight Thorne added 10 points. Coppin State resides in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
