Moore Decision 2009: We Won't Have to Wait Long on Signing Day

New, 37 comments

Well, if you do have to wait until signing day to hear about a prospect, this is a pretty quick way to find out about it. According to Greg Biggins, the 98th ranked prospect in the nation, S Byron Moore, will be announcing first thing in the morning on Feb 4th as ESPNU kicks off its coverage of National Signing Day:

Moore sets announcement date
ESPNU will have nine hours of recruiting coverage next Wednesday, February 4 kicking off at 7:00 AM (PST). The show will start with a bang as defensive back Byron Moore (Harbor City, Calif./ Narbonne) will make his college selection.

"Byron is going to start the show off by announcing his decision," Moore's father Byron Sr. said. "I'm not going to say where he's leaning or anything like that, you'll just have to tune in at 7:00 in the morning and find out."

Moore was slated to visit LSU this weekend but switched that up and will now trip to Colorado. Ironically, Moore's teammate, Josh Moten, an early Washington commitment, visited CU last weekend and is now reportedly leaning to the Buffs.

"Byron just felt more of a connection with the Colorado coaches," Moore Sr. said. "When he gets back from this visit, he'll look at his final three schools, Colorado, Notre Dame and USC."

Moore committed last summer to USC before backing off his commitment just a week ago.

"I was even surprised by it," Moore Sr. said. "I know everyone was but it's not for the reasons everyone is saying. I read all the talk on the message boards and just have to laugh at some of the things I'm reading. Let me just say this, it has nothing to do with football. People need to understand that football isn't the only think you look at when you make a decision like this.

"People were saying he was afraid to compete with Patrick (Hall) and T.J. (McDonald). Byron committed in the summer after those guys. Then I read that he saw them play at the Army game and didn't want to compete. That's crazy, Byron played just as much as those guys in the game and this has nothing to do with either player.

"The funniest one I read was he was told he was going to be switched to corner and didn't want to do that. Are you kidding, if you're a safety who can cover, that doubles your stock by NFL standard's. He would love to do that. Like I said, it wasn't just about football and right now, he's still evaluating everyone including USC. After this last visit, he'll have a couple of days to go over things and then he'll announce bright and early Wednesday."

Byron, you can play offense, defense...whatever position you want in the black and gold! You can play immediately and you will be on the forefront to change in Boulder!

Go get him Hawk!
