Buffs Land Third Commit of the Day in LB Derrick Webb

New, 4 comments

I didn't see this one coming because he had a few visits lined up over the next couple of weeks but according to rivals.com's commitment list, 3* LB Derrick Webb has verbally committed to the Buff. Those visits were supposed to be to Kentucky and Tennessee, hopefully he has canceled and committed to Colorado fully. He is a little shorter than your prototypical linebacker, only standing 5'11" but he has a nose for the ball and plays aggressive. In my commentary that I posted this week, I said that I wouldn't mind him moving to safety because of his ability to play downhill and how he continually is moving forward:

Commentary: Another athletic looking linebacker. Looks small out there but is well put together. He is short, no denying that but every camp he has gone to, he has stuck out and shown good athletic ability. Personally, I would like to see him play safety. He moves well laterally and displays good instinct but sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. At safety, he would be allowed to do what he does best: roam the field and make tackles in space. Cabral or Brown will be able to mold his athleticism to be a productive player if he chooses Colorado.

Congrats to Webb and the coaching staff. It is always good to take a kid out of SEC country...the productive day continues. No word on Ussery yet, you have to think that he will take some time to think about this and make sure he has the right decision made. The kid is more than just about football, he wants to get a good education too.

Here is Derrick Webb's pertinent information...
