Breakdown and Big 12 Rankings after the jump...

- The top 10 remained pretty close to last week with the one exception being the fall of Missouri down to 17.  The Buffs are going to have to face a very angry team in Columbia this weekend.  I still have Oklahoma State ahead of the Sooners by default, but as long as OU takes care of business this weekend they will be the number 2 team in the Big 12 next week.
- After the first 12 teams your guess is as good as mine.  All I see is a bunch of mediocre teams fighting to distinguish themselves from the pack.  The top of the ACC is a mystery that should begin to sort itself out over the next couple of weeks.
- Pittsburgh made the biggest jump in the rankings this week by virtue of their five game winning streak. This is one of the few teams in the lower half of the rankings that has continued to improve every week and the win over Iowa looks a lot better now than it did at the time.
- The fallout from Thursday night's TCU - BYU beat down saw the Horned Frogs rise up to number 16 and BYU fall from the top 25 altogether.  I still feel like the close win at Washington hurts more than the obliteration of UCLA helps the Cougars.

Week 7 Big 12 Rankings

Week 3 of the Longhorn gauntlet sees the undeafeted Cowboys come to town.  Im still not sold on Texas' ability to stop the opponent from putting up big numbers so I look forward to Saturday's shootout.

Oklahoma State is about to play the biggest game in it's history and I look forward to seeing how they (especially the defense respond).  Is the country ready for a #1 Oklahoma State team?  I don't think so.

The word on the street is that starting LB Keenan Clayton is suspended for this weekend's game in Manhattan. Can the Sooners defense step up against a solid offense with two starters missing from a thin LB unit?

While it's being overshadowed by the game in Austin, the Tech - KU game will finally gave the Red Raiders a real test.  Are they for real?

Kansas certainly showed that they can put up some points in Norman in last week, but the defense got rolled to the tune of 600+ yards.  Can they slow down a potent Tech offense enough for victory?

After two tough losses the Tigers welcome the Buffs to town as they hope to turn things around.  An upset to Colorado would severely damage Missouri's Big 12 title hopes.

The Cornhuskers look to move to .500 in the conference against Baylor this weekend.  Robert Griffin will be a good test for a retooled defense still trying to find it's footing.

The Buffs snapped a three game losing streak last week and now look to pull off the upset as they travel to Missouri. The big question for Buff fans; how much time is Tyler Hansen going to see?

With Nebraska and A&M the only unranked teams left on Baylor's schedule and three wins needed to qualify for a bowl game the Bears chances look slim.  A loss in Lincoln on Saturday would quickly slam the door shut.

Ron Prince didn't really live up to his self-proclaimed "riverboat gambler" title in a close loss at Colorado, going for one instead of two to tie.  He is going to need to pull out all of the stops if he hopes to upset the Sooners.

Basement bowl!  I have a feeling the loser of the this Saturday's game at Iowa State won't be leaving the Big 12 cellar this season.  A&M showed some life against Tech, will it continue?

In all actuality, neither ISU or A&M is going to make a bowl game this year, however the loser of this weekend's matchup in Ames can consider their bowl hopes officially dead.
