Embree called into 87.7 the Ticket to talk with former Buffs Joel Klatt and Charles Johnson this afternoon. The head coach spoke about recruiting (mentioned another commitment should be broken tomorrow), being the first African American head football coach at Colorado, the assistant coaches among other topics. Embree also said spring practice would begin March 11th and would end with a night spring game April 9th at 6:00 pm.
Current Air Force coach Troy Calhoun has released a statement saying that he will not be taking the Tennessee job vacated by Lane Kiffin. Calhoun, who is 25 - 14 as the Air Force head coach and has gone to a bowl game in every season as the Falcons' head coach, was rumored to be on a short list of potential Tennessee Volunteer head coaching candidates. The other name swirling around right now is current Duke head coach David Cutcliffe, who has significant ties to the Tennessee program. Here is the statement released by Air Force: "We are more than grateful and proud to be closely involved with the character building of our cadets and the mission of the United States Air Force Academy. We are diligently recruiting and working with our team to prepare for the upcoming season. We look forward to coaching and being a part of the Air Force Academy team both on and off the field in 2010." Calhoun was a topic of conversation among Buff fans this November as a possible replacement for current Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins. Calhnoun is an Air Force alum.
Nosa Eguae, a three star DE recruit from Texas has committed. This is not a shock as Nosa has said that the Buffs were his #1 choice for a long time. He attended the West Virginia game and was blown away. Hopefully this is the start of many DL and DB recruits for the Colorado Buffaloes. Priority #1 DE Nick Kasa was up at Oregon yesterday and watched them lose so that is positive. Welcome Nosa...congrats on becoming a Colorado Buffalo! More to come tomorrow! Thanks to BuffZag and Denverjhawk for letting us now about this first!
Dan Hawkins has suspended starting guard Devin Head for violation of team rules for the next game against EWU. He also suspended reserve tackle Ethan Adkins indefinitely for driving under the influence. It is unknown whether Head and Adkins' incidents are connected. More to come on this but this is not good as we try to define our starting guards for the hardest part of our schedule.
Former Buff Guard Richard Roby signed with a team in Israel today named Bnei Hasharon. Good luck to Richard
Well, this is not good news. Geer, who avoid jail time and a suspension from a fight earlier this year, had minor surgery last week to cleanup chronic knee cartilage damage according to rivals.com. The Buffs play CSU and Eastern Washington the first two games but Geer will be desperately needed for West Virginia. In my opinion, I believe their is a big drop off at TE with Patrick Devenny now in the starting role along with true freshman Ryan Deehan getting some reps in two tight end sets.
After initial reports that Polk would not agree to redshirt, he has opted to redshirt knowing that he would be 5th on the depth chart entering the season. From post discussions on the boards, I think this is a good move for the future for both Polk and the Buffs. Your thoughts?

Currently we only have DT George Hypolite listed on Mocking the Draft. Are there any seniors worth considering that may have been missed? Welcome to SBN!
