Calling out the CU Student Section

As a 2011 CU graduate I am old enough to remember the days when getting the Coors Event Center half full was a major accomplishment, but slowly as the CU program continued to build. The stadium got fuller and fuller and the student section got louder and louder! The student section became such a force for our school that they gained national recognition and ESPN's College Game Day decided to make a trip here to Boulder! But the student section this year has been mediocre at best. It's only been full for the "big games". I know Washington St. Isn't a great team, but the student section on Wednesday was embarrassing! Not only were you few in numbers, but you were quite the entire game and almost cost the team by getting a technical foul! I think the current generation of CU students has been scared by the football program. No longer is it "cool" to go to the games. Colorado's basketball program is at a critical point in its development. They've had some consistent success and gained some national recognition. But, when Spencer Dinwiddie went down with an injury I think a lot of fans quit on this team. If that is true those fans should be ashamed of themselves. This team has a lot of pride and they haven't given up yet. This team now more than ever needs the support of its fans and especially the student section. As a fan you can't only come to the big games. If you want to be mentioned with the "Cameron Crazies" and other great student sections you need to earn it! If you are a student and read this article spread the word that you have been called out prove me wrong and show up in full force for the Washington game. Make the Huskies fans feel you all the way back in Seattle. This time last week another Seattle team crushed the hearts of Colorado natives let us return the favor on Sunday. Step up your game and the Buffs will step their game up too! Shoulder to Shoulder Buff fans! UW Dawg PoundHuskies vs Buffaloes coverageColorado Buffaloes
