Buffaloes Women Throttle Rams, 72-46

USA TODAY Sports

Colorado took down Colorado State to move to 7-0 on the season.

That's right, we now will be recapping all of our undefeated women's Buffaloes basketball games here in the site. Everyone please welcome Matt Sparkman to the team and thank him for helping us to fill this void in our coverage here at TRR. Welcome, Matt! - Jon

For the third straight season, Linda Lappe's Colorado women's basketball team took to the court and thoroughly dismantled their rivals from Fort Collins by a 72-46 count.

Brittany Wilson led a balanced Colorado attack, with 13 points. Forwards Jen Reese and Jamee Swan each chipped in with 11 points, while Arielle Roberson contributed 10 points.

"We want to be ready for this game," said Lappe. "I understand the rivalry, I went to school here. I understood what it means for a long time not only to the team but to the university. I want to make sure we're always ready for this game."

The Buffs continued to impress on the defensive end of the court. They held the Rams to an abysmal 28.6 percent from the field, while outrebounding CSU 59-26. Senior Chucky Jeffery didn't let a tough night from the field affect her defensive tenacity, as she pulled down 12 rebounds, leading the Buffaloes.

"I don't care if Jeffery is a guard," said CSU head coach Ryun Williams. "That really doesn't matter. She is a freaky athlete. Do you think my posts can stop her? I mean, they can't."

The win marks the sixth time in school history - and the second straight season - the Buffs have won their first seven games. However, the road gets tougher for CU, as they travel to in-state rival Denver on Tuesday.
