This guy has only just begun to cover us and he already gets the entire identity of the program. It’s like night and day from Ubben who had no clue what CU was about.
Ted compares CU to three movies; The Hangover, Heartbreak Ridge and The Gauntlet. The Hangover is used for all the obvious reasons. If you went to sleep in 2004, when Klatt got concussed and we got stomped by UT, and woke up today you would have a killer hangover and would be jonsing for an Illegal Pete’s breakfast burrito to get that horrible Janet Reno of a coach taste out of your mouth. We’ve become a punch line in Vegas and now must set out on a journey that will get us our mojo back.
Heartbreak Ridge is used because Embree plays the part of an old school foul mouthed marine who has to whip a bunch of misfits into shape. While I don’t think our players are a bunch of misfits, although that whole monkey thing last year was odd, I would say they don’t really fit the Pac 12 cookie cutter.
Lastly Miller uses The Gauntlet to highlight The brutal schedule that awaits the Buffs.
Kudos Miller
