seems like the best place to post this
I see that another receiver is set to visit. How many goddamn receivers are we going to take this cycle? I thought it was bad news that we got a commit right when Jordan Payton came back on the market. We’ve signed 4 receivers last year, and have 2 more commits this year. Are we really going to have SEVEN freshman and sophomore (and probably redshirt) receivers? I understand that we’re thin, but this seems like overkill. We’ll be in constant waxing/ waning movements if we don’t spread out our numbers.
Look, I've already told Utah to suck it. There's no going back now.
i see what ur saying but
i think two of the recievers we signed last year prob will end up at other positions, prob db for one of them forgot his name, but id put money on tyler mcullogh being a TE. idk man weve had guys the past couple of years at wr that have no business being on a d1 field, i ll take 7 wrs over 2 cycles please! Based on all of the players leaving the team this year ive got the feeling Embo might be an oversigner
I'd also argue
that if you look at the post-spring depth chart (not that I put much stock in it), you’ve only got 4 scholarship receivers listed on it (minues Will Jefferson, of course). One of those guys is a Senior (Clemons) and two more of them (Darden & Canty) haven’t seen the field yet, so it’s not like we’re working with a surplus of receivers here.
I’m not sure Embo & Co are really oversigning at the Receiver position. There’s no prescribed scholarship distribution, so perhaps these guys want to give a few more to guys at WR. Maybe that’s who will fill out the Special Teams units. Nothing like a speedy Gunner covering punts!

Yeah I wouldn't worry
Signing an extra WR or two is probably safe due to position changes, drop-outs and guys not even making the grades to get on campus. Although, I would definitely pick a position like DL or OL to over-sign rather than WR.

All I know is after watching our offense last 5 or so yrs is that we need playmakers.

I would agree with everyone else here
The other thing I am sure they are looking at is with a 4 star QB coming on board, I am sure they want to surround him with weapons, so he doesn’t look at another school before signing.
