Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel Resigns Amid Controversy

Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel has submitted his resignation after players received improper benefits during his tenure. Assistant coach Luke Fickell, who was already filling in for Tressel during the first five games of the 2011 season in which he was to be suspended, will take over as the interim head coach, according to a school press release.

Earlier this year, Ohio State announced quarterback Terrelle Pryor, tailback Dan Herron, offensive tackle Mike Adams, receiver DeVier Posey and defensive end Solomon Thomas would be suspended the first five games of the 2011 season for accepting improper benefits. Rumors have been swirling from other former players that similar improper benefits were being received in the past as well.

The Colorado Buffaloes face the Ohio State Buckeyes on September 24 in Columbus, the fourth game of the season and the Buckeyes last non conference game.

Amazing how this has all turned out. As Darren Rovell of CNN sports just tweeted, Jim Tressel was brought down by $15,000 in memorabilia. In 2010, he made $18,975 for every four game minutes he coached.
