Alec Burks will he stay or will he go now open thread
Come on, we need an open thread for this, don't we? In about 15 minutes we will find out about the immediate future of CU basketball. I think he'll almost definitely go pro and I'm still excited about the team next year even without him, but obviously we'll be MUCH better if he stays.
Blah blah, filler filler, need to have this be a fanpost or no one will see it...

Congrats Alec!!
He had to go, no way you can pass up the opportunity. Even though it hurts us on the court next year, if he ends up as a lottery pick it proves you can come to CU, be successful and be a high draft pick. Should be good recruiting fodder for Boyle that he can hopefully capitalize on in a way that Patton never did with Chauncey. Again, all the best to Alec, congrats!
I'm glad he's going pro
he’s the consensus top SG in the draft. Can he get better? of course. But the best way to get better is to shoot jumpers and lift weights instead of going to History of Jazz and Sign Language classes. I can’t wait to root for another Buff in the league. GET IT ALEC
Look, I've already told Utah to suck it. There's no going back now.
dude, I took History of Jazz
it actually wasn’t THAT easy (well, for a class called History of Jazz anyway)
agreed
I took History of Jazz too (but not with the current prof), and I actually loved it. I still try to hit up El Chapultapec when I get back to Denver. I was just picking classes that I know Burks doesn’t like.
I still can’t dunk. Stupid asshole class.

haha. where is the Ralphie Report Nation at on Deviance?
I completely rocked that class

when I was there, it was (statistically) the most popular class on campus

oh, missed that one I guess, it kind of sound familiar, what is it, a criminology class?
but seriously now, since we’re discussing this, I can’t be the only one here (lots of fairly recent grads and everyone is a sports fan) that took History of Baseball, right?
Now that was a helluva class!
Took both history of baseball and history of jazz
though instead of actually going to history of baseball class, i jsut watched the ken burns documentary which is basically what we did in class anyway.
yeah, the subject matter was easy
but the actual workload for that class was pretty high, no? I remember my dad gave me shit when I said I was really happy to get an A but I told him that I wrote more pages of reports for that class BY FAR than any other class in college. I really struggle writing papers (they normally turn out alright, but it takes me forever and stresses me out to no end) so it was a tough one for me. I think we had to write around 100 pages worth of papers right? 40 page final project, a few take home essay tests 10 or 12 pages each, and a bunch of book reports.
Is it History of baseball or History of America through Baseball
I took it back in 2003?. Could have been really interesting given the subject matter but just popping in the Ken Burns documentary seemed pretty weak. But yea, there was way too much writing in the class.
yeah, you're right, america through baseball
we probably took it together, I’m pretty sure I took it my last semester (fall of 2003). All the movie watching was during the recitation though wasn’t it? I seem to remember him always lecturing during the actual class. The guy was head of the history department I think, seems to me he made a conscious effort to not have it be a “joke class”.
Didn't take that one
but knew some folks who did

Deviance lectures were always packed
Had it in Chem 140. Have to say though that I wasn’t impressed with Adler. She was loud and jittery like a crackhead.
That plus the fact that your entire grade relied on making a good note card for the tests (not complaining about the easy grade but I was disappointed at how little I felt I actually learned)
So now that Burks is moving on who is filling his scholarship? The Juco guard that was originally an A&M commit?

I'm pretty sure CJ just cursed live
he was talking about a song

I think he made the right decision...
Being the top rated SG is too good to pass on. I also thought Coach Boyle proved himself a real class act at that presser, too. Not sure how good our team will be next year without Alec, but I have a lot of faith in Tad going forward.
best quote, from Boyle
Part of coming to this campus is following your dream and whether you’re a basketball player or a chemical engineer or whatever the case may be, you want to follow your dream. Alec’s dream is to play in the NBA and he’s realized that at Colorado."
I really love Tad Boyle

well that sucks
i thought the lockout might convince him to stay, but i don’t blame him. i’m excited to watch him play in the nba. i think he’ll be solid if he can improve his jumpshot a bit.
I can see Alec going in the Top 10
He may even go top 5 when you consider the weakness of this draft
