Colorado Receives A (Somewhat Shaky) Commitment From DE De'Jon Wilson

According to Adam Musterteiger of BuffStampede.com, the Colorado Buffaloes have received a verbal commitment from Washington D.C. defensive end De'Jon Wilson. Wilson had been committed to Kansas since August, but decided to make the switch to Colorado after Turner Gill was fired as the head coach of the Jayhawks. This verbal could be considered somewhat shaky since he told Adam that he does plan on taking other visits, but hopefully his former teammate and current Buffalo Sherrard Harrington can help make the decision stick.

Welcome aboard De'Jon!

De'Jon Wilson

Position: Defensive End
Measurables: 6-3/240
40 Yard Dash: 4.68 seconds

Other Schools of Interest: Kansas, Michigan State, Rutgers, Temple, Pittsburgh, Marshall, Illinois, Buffalo, Toldeo

Status: Verbal to Colorado

Notes: From Rivals ($):
"I have a bond with [Buffs defensive ends] coach [Kanavis] McGhee," said the three-star weakside defensive end prospect from H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, D.C. "I talk with Coach McGhee about football and family issues. He has told me all about the school and what he plans on doing with me when I come up there.

"I also had a chance to talk to [Colorado head] coach [Jon] Embree and he is a great coach. So the relationship that I have with their coaches is great. I am looking forward to going out there."

Great!

Hopefully he sticks with us through signing day.

As far as eye tests go. I like the looks of this class so far!

I didn't realize a vision test was part of a recruits metrics....

No it was a response to "Huck" comment that he approves of this classes eye test so far

Play on words…. I’m pretty bored at work.

Wait...

You were making a joke that maybe the players had to take “vision tests”?

Ah… Haha. Oops

Yeah, it was a weak attempt at a play on words.

Wilson looks solid in an area of need, my only issue is that he still wants to take visits. Maybe he needs the frequent flyer miles, but in the end i’m confident he stays a Buff because we have the whole package to offer.

Early playing time is a big sell to him I bet

He has offers from Michigan State and Pitt.

I’m guess playing time was the reason he picked Kansas and a big reason why he would come here.

We’ll have Uzo-Diribe and Juda Parker at Right DE and the Jack Backer spot next year.

So there’s a good chance that a True Freshman could come in and start.

Believe it or not

Eye tests are all I have to go off of right now. In fact, that is mostly what the coaches have to go off of as well. There are no sure bets in recruiting.

I can watch all of the film and check height/weights and 40 times. Right now, I feel good about the guys coming in. Better than I’ve felt over the last years under Hawkins.

But we won’t know how good these guys are until they line up against the other D1 talented players.

Eye test

Take a look at Wilson’s highlights BuffnBigD. I posted them below.

This kid shows good quickness, strength, good size and I love the passion!

He plays DE which is a pretty big impact position and also of big need!

So yeah, he passes my EYE TEST!

Way to go Embo!!!

Wilson is from the same school as Harrington

That strategy was mentioned before. But it certainly helps to have a buddy on the team to help recruiting.

Hopefully Yuri Wright follows his buddy!

Everything I'm seeing is that Yuri is leaning towards Michigan

Or tOHS might get into the mix. Either way, looks like a longshot

With Connor Wood tossing the rock next year

He’d be a prime candidate for 40+ receptions across from P-Rich.
