Hey guys happy New Year, I have two topics:
First of all I’m really excited about CU basketball; an 11-4 start (with a win over mighty Western New Mexico) is awesome. However, I do have the same, old, concerns. We run about 8 deep: Burks, Higgins, Relphorde, Dufault, Tomlinson, Knutson, Sharpe, and Roberson. Then every now and again you see: Eckloff, Mills, and Coney. How does this translate into wins and losses in the Big XII? We won 6 games in the Big XII last year with roughly the same amount of depth we have now; a 6-10 Big 12 record this year would put us at 17-14 and probably an NIT berth. Personally, I think we will end up a game or two better than that (bubble team maybe…); how do you guys think we will end up?
The other topic involves football recruiting and Dave Logan. I think there is evidence that some bad relations have developed between Logan and CU. We have heard the rumors that Logan wanted nothing to do with taking the CU job when it was available, then came the big rumor he was going to become head coach at Northern Colorado, and here are Mullen’s Commits over the last four years:
These commitment numbers and Logan’s rumors raise multiple questions:
Speaking in terms of players who committed to Division 1 programs, shouldn’t Mullen be a better pipeline for CU with Logan at the helm at Mullen (even with CU’s bad record)? Does this mean Dave Logan has a problem with CU athletic department? Was Logan’s radio job the “only” reason why he wasn’t interested in coming back to CU?
Love them or hate them Mullen is the top prep high school in Colorado and it is critical for CU to have good relations with them-I’m worried.
Have at guys-I want to hear your opinion on these two topics.
And PLEASE try and make it to the upcoming Big 12 basketball games, our team needs us and we can help make this year special.
