S Parker Orms Tears ACL, Will Miss Entire Season
From the Longmont Times Call:
ORMS OUT FOR SEASON: CU head coach Dan Hawkins confirmed on Sunday that redshirt freshman Parker Orms will miss the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
"It’s really sad for him," Hawkins said. "He works so dog gone hard and he’s such a really good player and he cares so very much. You just feel so crushed for him."
Orms, from Wheat Ridge High School, came into the season as CU’s starting nickel back on defense. He was injured covering a punt less than 5 minutes into Saturday’s game. There was little to no contact on the play and Hawkins said it looked more like a basketball injury.
Orms still has three years of eligibility, but could apply for a medical redshirt to regain a fourth year.
"All you can do is make the best of it," Hawkins said. "He’ll come back and he’ll be fine and we’ll get him going."

This sucks
Could really have used his playmaking ability this year.
I went back and watched the play. Buffs first punt, he’s the first guy down on the return man, falls for a juke, untouched, and buckles to the ground.
Good luck PO. Rehab and get yourself right. We’re going to need you next year.
That hurts
Sorry to hear that, everybody seemed to beleive he was really going to be a contributor this year. I blew out my MCL in the Spring and it STILL hurts, so I can better understand what it takes to come back from an ACL both physically and mentally (I’m still hesitant to make many quick lateral moves).
Hopefully the medical redshirt works out for him and he can get back quickly for next fall.
question
don’t you have to wait until after your 5th year to apply for a 6th? I think that’s right, but I’m not 100% sure why I think that. Obviously it won’t be a problem for him to get it; just wondering what the time frame is.

yes, you have to wait for your fifth year to get your sixth through an application process to the NCAA
You are probably remembering UT WR Jordan Shipley news that he received a sixth year from the NCAA after his fifth year.

I had the same injury;
no contact, literally the ACL just decides to break. Hard injury to come back from-fell better Parker.
Tough break
Never easy to lose a playmaker like Orms. Guess guys like Sandersfield, J Hawkins and Jered Bell will have to step it up.
Good luck, Parker work hard in rehab and come back strong next year, ready to rumble!
