Post Game Celebration Thread - Colorado Buffaloes Defeat the Colorado State Rams
The Colorado Buffaloes answered the call today. The players said to expect a different team this year and they did not disappoint. The Buffs lead from start to finish forcing true freshman QB Pete Thomas to play from behind and the defense took advantage. CU forced the young quarterback to turn the ball over and in turn, shut the Rams out into the fourth quarter. Tyler Hansen and Rodney Stewart had great games for the Colorado while Scotty McKnight passed former Buff great WR Michael Westbrook on the all-time leading receptions list. Great day to be a Buffs fan.
Use this post to leave your post game comments and let's celebrate this one, it has been a while since we could do that!
I will have more later including some post game commentary from players and coaches.

This is great
Its nice to see the Buffs in a game where THEY dominated for once. Its gives me some hope that this could be a good season.

Nice win
But, some things to be cleaned up before we are ready to take on better teams. The O line was iffy, Hansen missed some easy throws and the penalties…….well, they are ridiculous. The personal fouls were especially troubling. Then again, the delay of game on 4th and 28 was just as awful.
All in all, a lot more exciting team. Way more athleticism than we have seen in the past. The D looked a lot better than I expected. Bring on Cal!
Let’s GO BUFFS!!!
Nice way to start the season
I’m happy but there is lots to improve upon. Next week at Cal will tell a bunch. Ugh, the penalities…….
Good win
I agree with you all that there are some things to fix but overall I’m happy with this performance. Nice to see the Buffs come out fired up and showing some pride.
Go Buffs!

Litttle troubled with the pass rush
And the penalties of course I hope they run gassers for each one….. Otherwise good performance by the buffs

New players
New players made a big difference. Also, awesome play calling!
I never thought I'd be kind of bummed out by a 21-point victory
but that was just a weird game. I can’t remember ever being less excited during a Buffs game in my life. Or can I ever remember a worse game day atmosphere (at least that’s what it looked like on TV). I understand why the games are at Invesco, no one needs to explain that to me, but man do I wish the game was in Boulder, at least it would of been in a loud, sold-out stadium. CSU fans don’t show up at all unless they’re good, CU fans don’t show up in large numbers down there unless we’re good. Ugh…
I’m really disappointed we didn’t score more in the 2nd half. The offense just couldn’t get on a roll. I’m worried about our running game and I’m still not really sure what our offensive identity is.
New WRs looked good, defense looked good, Goodman looked good (!), there were quite a few positives, but let’s not kid ourselves, CSU is bad, like really bad, they will be lucky to match last year’s win total.
Preseason is over, regular season starts next week in Berkeley!
Great victory!
OK we accomplished the mission of beating the Rams which was Priority One. I’ll have to think about the game before my analysis, but a couple things jumped out right away.
Penalties, penalties, penalties- what more to says, luckily we overcame these against the Rams, but won’t against better teams.
Maybe it was TV, but CU loked more business-like than pumped/amped up for the game.
Offense has potentail, but not exactly smooth or in sync. 1st game of the year inconsistency which I hope can be worked out quickly.
I’ll take this victory!!!
Fun game, not a bad atmosphere (student section is always fun), and I'm super happy about this win!
Defense looked good (though aided by a very bad/inexperienced Ram offense), offense did fine and Goodman did his job. However, on the negative side, the penalties were terrible and MUST be cleaned up. Hopefully we can build off of this by ending our road woes next week at Cal! All in all, a good win and a good day. GO BUFFS!

Rockies are actually zombies. And they're coming to hunt you down just when you think they're buried.

We came close to resembleing a real football team out there today. Neat.

Parker Orms
I was on the East Coast and we didn’t get the game. What happened to Parker Orms?
unfortunately...
sounds like he tore his ACL: http://buffzone.pmpblogs.com/2010/09/04/parker-orms-says-trainers-thin/
i feel for the kid. horrible way to start a season in which he was supposed to contribute extensively.
CRAP!

He may not be able to do it right away
But he should be able to apply for the 6th year of eligibility from the NCAA. And he should definitely qualify

Interesting
CU 1-0

Just joking and no ill will for Josh, just had to comment b/c UCLA looked terrible.

Your correct
Josh looked really good when he got a shot – just messing around. KSU is going to be a tough game for the Buffs

wow.
I have to say, the ralphie report has been one the most depressing big 12 sbnation blogs out there during the last year with the possible exception of iowa state… congrats on the much needed win, buffs.
CU support
TIGRPRIDE,
As a true Buff fan you have to get used to all the bandwagon jumpers who call themselves “Buff fans” when the team does well then complain and moan, rather than re-double their support, when the going gets tough in Boulder!
I’ve been going to gamnes and supporting the team since ‘69 and I got used to it, tho’ I don’t like it! Didn’t see too many of these type guys in the stands with me, when the Buffs lost to Cal in a driving rainstorm in Boulder! They were too busy sucking up to those lovable losers, the Broncos!
Today’s game was a game where the Buffs were in control from the beginning and played well. Penalties were more attributable to a MWC ref crew trying to keep the Ewes in it, than mental errors! Almost all were judgement calls.
What penalties were you watching?
The calls were fine. We just made mistakes. We definitely need to get that cleared up before next week.

What
I have been a loyal buff fan since i can remember. So since most of us Buff fans are not happy with the direction Hawkins was taking us makes this site a bad place to be is BS. I am happy with the win, but I want to see this team get better and compete on a weekly basis. I love this site and support the criticism. I want a team that lives up to what we had in the early 70’s and the 80’s. If that bothers you, so be it. I love all my Colorado teams, (except the rams) and I want winners not bottom feeders. If that bothers you so be it.
GO BUFFS

I'm not gonna worry today....
There are lots of things I could complain about, but I think I’ll just bask in this for a bit….it’s been a long time…
I’ll start worrying again and getting cynical on Thursday/Friday
cal is a winnable game
but we’ve absolutely sucked on the road for years now. if this team manages to show up on the road then that will go a long way towards “our new direction” and getting respect from our future conference mates.
Plus side
Clemmons hasn’t been tackled yet. The lambs could barely touch him. It was a peaceful quite walking out of Mile High. I enjoyed it.
