Colorado Will Pay $6.8 Million To Leave The Big 12 For The Pac-10 In 2011
Geez, I can barely get one story up before something else breaks.
Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com (as if I need to tell you that at this point) is reporting that the Colorado Buffaloes WILL be leaving the Big 12 to join the Pac-10 after this season. Chip reports that the Buffaloes will be paying about $6.8 million of around $19 million of our revenues from the conference to leave.
The exit fee that Colorado is rumored to be forfeiting is almost $3 million less than the conference just announced that the University of Nebraska will be paying, most likely because CU gave the required two years notice (Colorado was originally planning to leave in 2012) and Nebraska did not.
We will most likely see tonight if this story turns out to be true, but I wouldn't bet against it.
One thing I do know, Chip Brown better be be paying this source a lot of money, or he has some serious dirt on him or her...
**Update** 5:27 pm - It's now been verified by Kyle Ringo. Time to celebrate!
Colorado will leave the Big 12 in 2011 and it will cost $6.863 million

Isn't it?
I, for one, am really, really excited. I’m already day dreaming about our new division alignment and how good those throwback uniforms (please, Bohn, makes those permanent) with the new Pac-12 logo on them

That is great news!
And yes, those throwback uni’s are awesome.
Agree
We need to keep the ’90 jerseys permanent.

Can I make a suggestion???
Instead of calling them the 1990’s jerseys/uniforms, can we refer to the current uniforms as the “alternate” or “special” uniforms? The “1990” uniforms are what they should have been the entire time.
:)
Just tol the entire class
Were so pumped now let’s take care of business

Awesome
That is not as much money as I thought we would have to pay so I’m psyched about this outcome. Also, money saved here can be used elsewhere…..like fir a certain coachs’ buyout….if/when needed…..just saying.
Go Buffs!

Colorado - Nebraska
As a Husker, I believe it is a small price to pay for our Universities to join real conferences.
Colorado and Nebraska escape the Big Texas League.
Good luck, Colorado. I will miss our annual games. As much as I dislike the Buffaloes, I will miss the fun of the games. We’ve had some great ones over the past 20 years.
Colorado will do well in the PAC12, and Nebraska will do well in the BIG10.
Texas will continue to do well in the Big Texas Conference.
Thanks, both schools made the correct decision
As an Ohioian and CU Alum I am really looking forward to seeing Ohio State play Nebraska. Good luck going forward

I thank you too
I’m not sure I’d go as far as to wish you luck in the Big 10 but I think it’s a great move for your school. The Big 10 is a great conference and NU is a natural fit. The only thing that makes me sad about all this is losing the game with you guys.
ill wish u luck
only team i like in the big ten is michigan, plus if we do we kick ass and u guys kick ass then we will kick ur ass in the rosebowl, good luck huskers!
not to nitpick on your post
but it totally was nitpicking. Same difference, everyone knew what it meant.
Fantastic news though!
See ya'll next year in the Big 12 North!
We really need a trophy for our game or something…

How soon can we get our 2011 PAC 12 Schedule
I’m circling that first Utah game on the Calendar……..Your chicks are prudes and your beer sucks!
In a month or so we should know the divisions
Then the schedules shortly after that. I really hope Colorado and Utah develop a nice rivalry to keep the pairs going for the PAC.
Glad to have you guys!

Utah should be a nice rivalry for you guys, but if you need a second,
I’ll suggest what all Ducks everywhere will suggest — just hate the Huskies!

you think so
their too like us kinda hip like to ski don’t think their gods gift to football, the reason why the huskers are good rivals is that they are our opposites , but im sure it ill be a friendly rivalry
Back after we announced the move, but before Utah, I posited Oregon as my chosen rival
Partly because I almost went to school there (how many times are your tour guides legally required to mention the Animal House thing?), partly because we both have great cross country programs, and partly because our mascots are both delicious.

We've had more games against Oregon than just the Fiesta Bowl
01 Fiesta Bowl
98 Aloha Classic
95 Cotton Bowl
I just realized how long ago those games are now… Bring on the Ducks!

Yeah, that does come up during tours. A lot.

Hello pac 12, Goodbye danny!
It’ll be a rough first year in the new conference with all the rebuilding we need to do, but if we make a good hire (EB!), this will be a great long term move for CU. The best part – hawk has no chance of coming with us.
More like 6 wins
and lots of excuses as to why we didn’t have more. Danny is great at the, “we were 4 plays away from winning 10 games” routine.
Well, I guess my days of going to Buff games close by are gone....
sigh.. Oh well, at least … At least… Crap, I got nothing
We get road trips to Cali or to Boulder
It makes not going to Norman or Waco that much better

This is the start of something beautiful, we will be selling a former back-up FB who is great at giving some inane answers to why the football teams are a few plays away. Please look for the ad on Craigslist soon, will take best offer, I am looking at you K-State.

Good move by you guys to get the better financial terms and make the move sooner, just in case you want to buy out anyone in December, for example. But be prepared to be ignored by all the media east of, say, Limon.
Besides, I’ve been looking forward to a much shorter drive to see my alma mater. Glad to have you guys in!
