Rodney Dangerfield of the Big 12
I guess I'm just venting here (and late to the party on this one), but I am astonished at the complete lack of respect we are receiveing across the board in pre-season predictions. Everybody from ESPN to SI to every twit that can write a blog (some Kansas dude, who has ZERO room to spout off) seems to be going out of their way to write off our Buffs.
Now I understand that based on last years results, we deserve nothing but abuse. However, I would expect REAL College Football experts to go a little deeper than simply applying last years results to this years predictions.
Fact is CU is a different team this year with more depth, talent, and experience. In my real opinion, we lost several games last year for some bizzare reasons (other games we simply sucked and deserved to lose) that I just can't see happening again this year. Also people are quick to forget that we did beat A&M, Kansas, and gave UT and OKSt a pretty tough time on thier own field.
I hope I can bring this post up again in November and tell ESPN, SI, and the other morons with a blog (not this blog of course) where they can "stash" their predictions.

Here's a preview that actually gives us some respect.
Lo and behold, it’s from SB Nation…

The Ralphie Report - University of Colorado Athletics
SB Nation Denver
collegefootballnews gave a pretty good review too
7-5 and tied for 2nd in the North. That’s honestly a little more than I’m expecting…

Well...
I hope I’m not the Kansas twit, but I suppose based on timing you might have stumbled upon my power ranking today.
I’ll admit, I didn’t give CU a great review…but I hope I made it clear that it wasn’t because they lacked talent. I think the players they have are good enough to compete in the North. I’m just not as confident in Dan Hawkins.
I live in Denver…I’m very familiar with the Buffaloes and in fact with the move to the Pac10 I’m kind of excited because I can actually pickup a local team here to get behind and cheer for(CSU and Air Force just don’t cut it).
If it was me, apologies for sounding disrespectful. That wasn’t my intent. I just do a weekly power rankings during the season and to start things off I just kept struggling to bump CU because I kept coming back to Dan Hawkins and my current lack of confidence in the guy.
Nothing personal, I’ve just watched too many games and too many interviews where he leaves me raising an eyebrow and wondering what the heck.

No... Not you.
Although I haven’t quite read your Power Rankings yet, it wasn’t you (unless you have an alias who post under ManCave Sports). No problem if you (or anybody) can back up an opinion with thoughtful reasons, but they have to be based on this years team.
nope..not me...whew!
I write for the Kansas counterpart here on SB Nation.
I did a quick rundown of power rankings this week. I was feeling somewhere in the 8-10 range for CU…ended up putting them at 10 and again I did preface it with the fact that I think they have talent and experience to compete in the top 3 of the North…I just need to see something from the coaching to make me buy in.
Also, mine wasn’t based on how I think the teams will finish so much as how strong I feel today knowing what I know about the teams. Iowa State for instance could be better than they were a year ago when they went 7-6 but in all reality their schedule will be a killer.
Good luck to you guys though. I’ll probably be making my way up to see the Buffs against Georgia if I can help it.

Good. Screw them all
I wanted to punch twitter in the face when Andy Staples from SI made some lame joke about “intramurals.” It’s a 4 year old reference and it made no sense in context. That’s the way the national media thinks of us. They can all go straight to hell. The Big 12 blogger only grudgingly gives us any credit for any talent. Columnists from California are openly disparaging our inclusion in their conference.
All the more reason we need to band together as Buffs fans. Like or hate Hawkins- he’s the coach. And a vote against him right now is the same as a vote against the team. I hope we beat the shit out of each and every one of them.
