Friday Buff Bites - Hawkins And Monkey
We discussed the Hawkins extension request yesterday and in all actuality it's something that never should have been made public. A couple of winning seasons and I'm sure extension talks will begin. On to the links...

Hawkins told the paper he asked for the extension for "continuity" and "stability" in recruiting which he apparently believes the three years reamining on his current deal fail to provide – an astute observation, really, since no one else seems to think so, either. But Hawkins may be the only one still willing to operate under the assumption that the situation may be some sort of oversight that can still be corrected off last year's 3-9 disaster without, say, eight wins this fall. That may be enough for him to get his wish, but looking at the schedule, I can't imagine how he's going to get there from here.

Finally, could monkey be this season's good luck charm? If we come out a beat the Rams soundly I am going to have to request a 24 hour security detail for him...

Ubben
I’ve had enough of him already. I Wouldn’t expect to get much respect from anyone at ESPN as a member of a member of the Big 12 North but come on dude.
I didn't think they could find someone worse than Tim Griffin, but- here we are.
Also, he’s kind of creepy looking. He looks like a poltergeist.

I'm already prepared to let Monkey replace Chip
Dear God how I hate stupid Chip. Worst mascot since Dinger.

Wow, Hawkins has a lot of nerve
I don’t know if he is dillusional or just the greatest con man ever, but to actually tell the AD he should extend him is amazing.
