Colorado and Nebraska...One last time?
There is no doubt that this seasons match-up with Nebraska will be one of the final times Colorado plays Nebraska. Obviously it will be the last time as conference members, but there is always the possibility in the future of non conference games. With both teams leaving the Big Texas...XII, there will be little association in athletics. As a lifelong Buffs fan I have always enjoyed the banter between Nebraska and Colorado. I have enjoyed the Husker "It's not a Rivalry" to the response by Colorado fans of "that's all you have, we have other things to do." BTW Husker fans from the Corn Nation have been really cool on the Ralphie report since it was reported we are both leaving.
Regardless of the past, I have always respected Nebraska football and the people of Nebraska. We share a border and have the same pride for the region we live in. We have went through good and bad times in football, but hopefully both programs can be propelled back into national relevance. Nebraska is almost back to the top and definitely going in the right direction. Playing in the Big Ten will help out and will create even more excitement for the program. We have a ways to go, but I think this move will create excitement in our own fan base as well. Make no mistake, Colorado has a ways to go, but we can do it despite the critics.
What all of this means is that this year is going to be special when Colorado travels to Lincoln on Nov 26th. Although it is unorthodox, I hope that in some form both schools honor one another at that game. After the game is over, I hope that Colorado and Nebraska players and fans can show respect to one another. It is probably naive to think that could happen, but it would be really cool. Maybe Coach Mac and Alfred go support the buffs with Tom watching his huskers. Maybe the Buffs take a trip with Ralphie to Lincoln not as a sign of disrespect, but one of respect. I think it would be a kick to see Ralphie run on the field in Lincoln in what may be our last game against our neighbors. There is always a future that could contain the Rose Bowl, but it wouldn't be the same.
I wish our friends from Nebraska well.

I kind of like what Coach Mac said the other day, that the rivalry is not over, we’ll just have to see Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. I have had both good and bad experiences with NU fans over the years, but I absolutely wish them well in the Big-10.
I have a feeling the two teams will add a home and home set now and again somewhere down the road.

I'd think a long Colorado-Nebraska non-conference series is likely...
… in the not too distant future, especially if the Big Ten and Pac 12 go with 8-game schedules. The Texas 10 teams aren’t likely going to want to play Nebraska any time soon, so you’re the only one of their traditional rivals that will schedule them. Eventually cooler heads will prevail, but it took a few years before any Big East teams scheduled BC, Miami, or Virginia Tech again.
Disagree
NU will fight hard to keep their Oklahoma rivalry game. Beyond that, NU will play 3 cream puff games like they always do.
Just my two cents
New Rivalry
I look forward to a new Rivalry with y’all. Hopefully it will be a good rivalry and not filled with hate like the one we’ve got now.
