Thursday Buff Bites - The Search For A New Coach
McClain turns down chance to join Bzdelik - The Denver Post - Colorado associate head coach Steve McClain said today he turned down an offer from Jeff Bzdelik to join the Wake Forest staff to pursue the main job at CU.
Higgins 'angry' but ready to move on after Bzdelik departure - Buffzone - Cory Higgins says that he isn't happy with Bzdelik's departure, but Colorado promoting Coach McClain to Head Coach would help keep some peace in the locker room.
"Angry," Higgins said when asked what his emotions were on Wednesday, the day Bzdelik was introduced as the Wake Forest head coach. "But you`ve got to move forward. I only have one year left, so I don`t have time to be angry. I just have to move on." Higgins said there is a chance some of the younger players might transfer out of the program, depending on who is hired. And the timing of the coaching change could also prevent CU from signing some key recruits capable of bolstering the team`s glaring weakness -- rebounding. Not surprisingly, Higgins joins his teammates in the locker room campaign for CU associate head coach Steve McClain to take over the program. "It`s no secret. We`ve expressed to many people that we`d like coach McClain to be here," Higgins said. "For me, the most important thing in trying to keep him here is to keep everybody together."
Bohn won't rush CU's search - The Denver Post - Mike Bohn is saying he won't rush the search for a new Head Coach (when have you ever heard an AD say that they were going to rush the process), but I certainly hope he is doing everything possible to make the transition as smooth AND quick as he can.
Wow, what a week to be gone | The Denver Post — All Things Colorado Sports - The Buffs are scheduled to host two basketball recruits this coming weekend: 6-foot-8 Majok Majok of Massachusetts and 6-10 Gorgui Dieng of West Virginia. I don't how much can be said about the coaching situation when you have kids coming in, but I feel for Steve McClain, it has to be frustrating.
Colorado football assistants set to hit road - Buffzone - Time for the football coaches to hit the recruiting trail.
Today brings the arrival of the third spring evaluation period in which Hawkins and every other head football coach across the nation are prohibited from leaving campus to recruit. Anyone who has spent any time around Hawkins during his tenure in Boulder knows it`s killing him today to be trapped at the Dal Ward Center while his assistant coaches scour the country for prospects for the 2011, 2012 and even the 2013 recruiting classes.
BuffStampede.com - Buffs offer Illinois offensive tackle ($) - Sounds like the Buffs have offered 6'7 OT Pat Flavin out of Illinois. The kids got good size, but it's his comments about trying to get in touch with the coaching staff that really got my attention.
Inside linebackers coach Brian Cabral recruits the Prairie State from the Buffaloes' staff. "I've been trying to get a hold of the coaches at Colorado and I haven't been able to do that just yet," Flavin said. "Colorado plays in the Big 12, which is a great conference and I've heard nothing but good things about the school."

Unless we
bring in like coach K, it would be ridiculous for us to not keep McClain. Hes not exactly the sexy pick, but he has a good thing going now, and it seems like everyone loves that dude. Give him his chance Bohn.

Plus, he did well when Bz was out this year

yeah
out of the people we could actually get I think Dunlap would be a fine choice and maybe would be a little better in the long run but McClain deserves a shot.
I might be the only one but I’m actually looking forward to see what we can do next year with someone other than Bzdelik. I personally think we under-achieved last year. I always tried to keep my complaining to a dull roar because I knew deep down he was a pretty good coach and about the best we could do, but the style of play we had with him always bugged me as well as the fact that we seemed to have disgruntled players leaving every year (including some pretty good ones like Silas). Even if we don’t sign some bad-ass center (which we probably won’t) I bet our rebounding improves a lot next year (that is if McClain doesn’t run the exact same offense and defense, which I promise he won’t). Who knows, maybe Casey Crawford will come back. I know he said otherwise but I’m sure he left because of his relationship with Bzdelik.

Bz, you've failed me.
I hope we go with Steve.
"CarGo had to make some repairs to it. They called it a kitchen accident, but he was performing surgery. On teh lazor."
"I mean come on, you can’t be from Nebraska and go to school at CU, I think they take away your overalls or one of your last remaining teeth for that."
Oh, and this isn't the first time we've heard about recruits
that “can’t get a hold of coaches” here. What the hell is going on?
I know
Thats the exact same thing I was thinking.
